Dr. Cassio Silva (MS, PhD) joined the Dugoni School in 2021, where he teaches human anatomy and histology to dental students. Dr. Silva holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master’s and a doctorate degree in Immunology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Dr. Silva conducted part of his PhD and his post-doctoral training at the University of the Pacific, Dugoni School of Dentistry. Dr. Silva’s research interests rely on studying the effects of tobacco on human oral health, and the host immune responses against oral infection. His funded research from the Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP — California) will help understand molecular mechanisms that bridges smoking to periodontitis in all segments of society.
