Eric Chapman

Eric J. H. Chapman joined McGeorge in July 2026 as a Legal Research & Instruction Librarian. In this role, he leads the library’s research support services for faculty and students, including foreign and international law research. He also oversees collection development, provides legal research instruction, and creates and maintains legal research guides.

Before joining McGeorge, Chapman served for three years as Assistant Pasadena Branch Librarian for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Earlier in his career, he practiced as a civil defense litigator in Washington and completed two judicial clerkships in Alaska’s trial courts. He remains active in the law library profession through presenting, writing, serving on professional committees, and guest lecturing in law school and graduate programs.

Chapman earned his JD, along with a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, from Lewis & Clark Law School, and his Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), with a specialization in law librarianship, from the University of Washington.

A Seattle-area native, Chapman enjoys running, cycling, and unwinding with a good book and a well-chosen dram. A former dancer and stage performer, he is also an enthusiastic supporter of both local and professional theatre.
