The high points of my teaching philosophy are that I expose students to the range of views in economics and the evidence supporting them, so that students can see the wide range of the field and form their own conclusions. I encourage them to write in Economics so that they can express their own views, develop statistical evidence, cite authorities, present historical examples and use institutional information. I encourage them to speak up in class to share their ideas.
I am constantly assessing my work via problem sets, tests, and in-class assignments so that I can find the most effective teaching methods.
I apply a sense of humor and tell stories to keep students involved and give them cases they can remember.
My research interests have included occupational choice, retail pricing, income from capital and the economic impact of education.
