Health and Safety Plan

The health and safety plan is the overarching plan for University of the Pacific. However, there are some important campus-specific policies and protocols, specifically for the San Francisco Campus that should be carefully reviewed by all members of that campus. Health and Safety Plan last updated August, 9, 2021.

Unvaccinated

Individuals who submit declination forms or do not provide proof of vaccination will be required to follow the unvaccinated guidelines. Practice social distance (6 ft') when removing their mask to eat or drink.

Testing

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals will be required to undergo weekly surveillance testing.

COVID-19 Symptoms, Close Contact or Positive Test

When Someone Has COVID-19 Symptoms

Individuals who are showing possible symptoms of COVID-19 (vaccinated or unvaccinated) should isolate immediately and follow appropriate next steps.

When Someone Tests Positive for COVID-19

Students who test positive for COVID 19 should stay in their room and notify Student Health Services within 24 hours by phone, email or text. SHS will provide next steps.

Faculty and staff should stay home, notify Human Resources and their supervisor within 24 hours of their diagnosis. HR will provide next steps.

Contact Tracing

Contact tracing for all COVID-19 positive cases will be implemented regardless of vaccination status. Unvaccinated/partially vaccinated individuals are required to quarantine if identified as a close contact of a COVID-positive person. Students should notify the Student Health Services. Employees should notify their supervisor and Human Resources for next steps.

Wear a Face Covering

All Pacific Students and Employees are required to wear facial coverings indoors regardless of vaccination status unless alone in a room.

Healthy Hygiene

Adopting and applying health hygiene practices will ensure your own safety and the safety of others in managing the spread of COVID-19.

Hand Washing

  • Frequently wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water.
  • When hand washing is not practical, students and employees should use alcohol-based hand rubs (ABHR) containing at least 60% ethyl alcohol or 70% isopropyl alcohol. Hand sanitizing stations have been placed throughout campus.

Respiratory Hygiene

  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or use the inside of the elbow.
  • Used tissues should be thrown in the trash and hands washed immediately with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, ABHR containing at least 60% ethyl alcohol, or 70% isopropyl alcohol is recommended.
