Changemakers Series - Bridging the Gap: How We Use Data To Be Transformative in Advocacy
12:00 p.m. - 01:00 p.m.
Data tells stories - stories of inequity, resilience, and transformation. In this session, Dr. Antwanisha Williamson will explore how data can be used as a powerful catalyst for advocacy and systems change. Drawing from over 18 years of U.S. Navy service and a career dedicated to educational equity, community empowerment, and veteran affairs, Dr. Williamson-Berlus bridges the gap between lived experience and evidence-based action.
Participants will learn how to interpret, humanize, and leverage data to drive meaningful policy and programmatic decisions -ensuring that numbers reflect people, and that advocacy efforts are rooted in both compassion and accountability. Through storytelling, practical strategies, and real-world examples from her work in national leadership and education research, this workshop will inspire and equip attendees to use data not just to inform, but to transform.
Facilitator: Dr. Antwanisha Williamson, U.S. Navy Veteran | National NAACP Armed Services & Veterans Affairs Program Chair | 2nd VP for the NAACP California - Hawaii State Conference | President, California Educational Research Association (CERA)
