McGeorge Centennial Speaker Series: “Navigating Neither”
McGeorge Centennial Speaker Series: “Navigating Neither”
05:00 p.m. - 06:00 p.m.
Susan Kuo, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law at the University South Carolina School of Law, will discuss “Navigating Neither” as part of the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law’s Centennial Celebration Speaker Series on April 10, 2024 from 5-6 p.m. PT in the Grand Salon.
Her presentation will critically examine the neither-here-nor-there status of Asian Americans in U.S. Society. She will address how Asian Americans fit (or don’t fit) into racial categorization schemes used to advance diversity and inclusion efforts. By creating more nuanced categories that leave room for individual assessment, we can recognize the experiences of Asian Americans without pitting racial groups against each other.
Throughout 2024, guest speakers from law schools across the country – including legal experts like Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, Dean Danielle Conway, Professor Susan Kuo, Professor William Eskridge Jr., Professor Cheryl Wade, Professor Aya Gruber, and more – will share their insights in an array of legal topics.
