Join the CSO and the California Office of the Attorney General's Department of Justice for an info session on the Graduate Legal Assistant positions. Three McGeorge Alumni will share more details about the Correctional Law Section and the Graduate Legal Assistant position and program, and answer any questions. Questions? Contact lawcareers@pacific.edu.The Correctional Law Section is one of the largest in the Civil Division with approximately 125 deputy attorneys general in several locations statewide. The section offers opportunities to work on individual civil rights cases, high-profile matters, appeals, and class-actions. Graduate Legal Assistants in the section engage in all aspects of civil litigation, from inception through trial, settlement or appeal; investigate facts and analyze documentary evidence; exercise independence and initiative in cases involving issues of constitutional law; carry a caseload while working collaboratively with supervisors and colleagues; and conduct depositions, witness interviews, client meetings, and site inspections as necessary. Depending on performance, a successful Graduate Legal Assistant will have the opportunity to promote to a Deputy Attorney General position after passing the July bar exam. Many of the Correctional Law Section’s deputies came through the Graduate Legal Assistant program. This is a full-time position, with opportunities for intermittent remote work.
