It is intended to provide dentists with advanced knowledge and core competencies that promote safe and effective moderate sedation in children. Dr. Ritwik will focus on patient selection and risk assessment, the general approach to procedural sedation in pediatric dentistry, sedation monitoring, sedative drug pharmacology and recognizing and managing common sedation-related adverse events. Pediatric anatomy, physiology and pharmacokinetics are unique and necessitate discussions pertinent to desired effects as well as complications related to pediatric sedations.This will be an interactive course with audience participation and discussion. Case-based scenarios will be used to engage participants and invite diverse viewpoints. She balances her academic career by teaching doctoral and postdoctoral students, maintaining a clinical practice and conducting research. She balances her academic career by teaching doctoral and postdoctoral students, maintaining a clinical practice and conducting research.
