Patrick Langham joined the Conservatory of Music in the fall of 2003 as associate professor and director of jazz studies. He holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degrees both with a concentration in jazz studies from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Before joining Pacific, Langham has taught at the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg and Tusculum College in Knoxville, TN.

Langham is an experienced educator and in-demand saxophonist. He has performed with distinguished jazz artists including Lewis Nash, Bob Hurst, Donald Brown, Tom Harrell, Essiet Essiet, Terell Stafford and Louis Hayes.

As professor and director of jazz studies at Pacific, Langham developed the university’s jazz studies degree programs. He also directs the Pacific Jazz Ensemble, the jazz combos, teaches courses in improvisation, jazz history and theory, as well as leads the Pacific Jazz Ambassadors program.

During his time at Pacific, Langham has traveled to Spain as a visiting jazz conductor, overseen student performances in Paraguay, and directed ensembles at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Reno Jazz Festival and Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New Nork City.
