Go beyond using AI. Learn to build it.

Artificial intelligence is changing how we solve problems, from health care and robotics to business and design. At the University of the Pacific, you’ll learn how intelligent systems recognize patterns, learn from data and support decision-making while building the technical skills to develop your own AI solutions.

Through small classes, close faculty connections and hands-on learning, you’ll explore machine learning, deep learning and responsible computing. You can also connect your AI studies to another field that interests you and discover where your skills can make an impact.

Learn by building

Go beyond learning what AI can do. Study artificial intelligence, machine learning, data and knowledge engineering and deep learning, then bring your knowledge together in a team-based senior project focused on solving a real problem.

Gain professional experience

Take your classroom learning into the workplace through Pacific’s optional seven-month cooperative education (co-op) program. Paid co-op placements provide an opportunity to develop professional skills and explore how computing is applied in industry.

Make AI your own

Explore how AI intersects with health care, robotics, design and more through electives. You can also pair your degree with a minor in applied mathematics, business analytics, computer engineering, computer science, data science, or philosophy.

Put your AI skills to work

In your senior AI project, you’ll collaborate with a team to identify a challenge and design, implement and evaluate an AI-based solution. You’ll practice the technical problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills that matter beyond the classroom.

Big possibilities. Personal support.

At Pacific, small classes mean your professors get to know you. Learn in a student-centered environment that combines rigorous computing coursework with opportunities to explore the human, ethical and professional questions surrounding AI.

  1. Students who complete the Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence will have acquired the ability to:
  2. Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  3. Design, implement and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  4. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  5. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  6.  Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  7. Apply artificial intelligence theories, models and techniques to design, implement and evaluate AI-based solutions that solve complex problems.
What can you do with an AI degree?
