Conservatory graduate arranges pleasant music for Pleasanton students

Music overcomes boundaries, conquers adversity and does not bow to a pandemic.

Andrew Lu, a 2019 music education graduate and a past Powell Scholar, learned all that and more at Pacific’s Conservatory of Music.

The first-year educator in the Pleasanton School District recruited his fellow music teachers—two of whom also are Pacific graduates—to play the beautiful music he arranged in the video “Jungle Dance | Pleasanton Virtual Music Teachers Ensemble.” The purpose: to let students know they are missed while schools are shuttered.

Students and families enjoyed the sound of clarinets, saxophones, percussion and more from remote settings.

Music teachers Erik Nishimori, (’07, music education) and Jonathan Pedroni (’02, music performance percussion) also took part.
