Dugoni School Joins Together in Season of Generosity

December 7, 2018

This holiday season, members of the Dugoni School family are conducting several donation drives to gather items and resources for underserved people across Northern California.

Holiday Giving Trees Support Community Groups

The school's Employee Volunteer Opportunities Committee (EVOC) has set up a "Giving Tree" on the main stairway landing on the first floor, where it will remain until Dec. 19. In exchange for donating one of the following items, a donor may select an ornament to place on the Giving Tree:

  • Coats, jackets, sweaters, hats, scarves and other outerwear in good condition for One Warm Coat
  • Children's books for the Children's Book Project: new or gently used intended for age 3-11 in English, Chinese, Spanish or other languages
  • Monetary donations, and gently used towels and blanketsfor San Francisco Animal Care and Control
Food Drive

The school is also collecting nonperishable food items for the SF-Marin Food Bank to help end hunger for families in our community. Donation bins will be available on the first floor until Jan. 7. The most-sought-after items are canned tuna and other meats; peanut butter; canned chilies and soups; beans, cereal; canned fruits and vegetables; and whole-grain rice, pasta and oats.

Toy Drive

The school's Pediatric Dentistry Study Club is hosting its annual holiday toy drive as part of the San Francisco Fire Fighters Toy Drive. Toys will be accepted in a collection bin on the fourth floor by the stairs or during lunchtime at a collection table on the first floor. Toys can be donated until Dec. 14.

Support for Fire Relief

In addition to these current efforts, the school also recently came together to donate items for people affected by the Butte County fire. The school's student chapters of ADEA, ASDA and CDA cosponsored a supplies drive November 15 – 30. Donations were then sent to Oroville Municipal Auditorium in Oroville for evacuees to pick up needed supplies.
