March 24, 2020

The American Dental Association recently teamed up with the Organization for Safety, Asepsis, and Prevention to provide a COVID-19 Infection Control Protocols and Procedures webinar to the dental community. Held on March 20, the webinar offered some practical guidance about current infection control protocols and procedures; personal protective equipment; sanitizing operatory rooms and equipment; aerosol; pre-treatment mouth rinses and daily hygiene; and protecting patients and dental staff.

The webinar is available online for the dental community on ADA's website.

Dugoni School of Dentistry faculty member Eve Cuny, MS, co-led the webinar with Kathy Eklund, RDH MHP, Director of Occupational Health and Safety, and the Forsyth Research Subject and Patient Safety Advocate at The Forsyth Institute.

Cuny serves as associate professor and director of Environmental Health and Safety at the Dugoni School, where she also serves as Assistant Dean for Global Relations. She is a member of the National Occupational Research Agenda Council, and has served as a reviewer and subject matter expert for CDC. She has worked in the area of dental infection prevention and patient safety for the past 30 years.
