New CDC Infection Control Guidelines for COVID-19 for Dental Facilities

March 27, 2020

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today released interim infection control guidelines related to COVID-19 for dental facilities. The information supplements, but does not replace, the general infection prevention and control (IPC) recommendations for COVID-19.

Dental settings have unique characteristics that warrant additional infection control considerations. Some key guidelines include the postponement of elective procedures, surgeries, and non-urgent dental visits; staying at home if sick; contacting patients prior to clinically urgent/emergency dental treatment; and knowing actions to take if a patient has suspected/confirmed COVID-19.

For the full list of guidelines, please visit the CDC website.
