New diversity, equity and inclusion grant launched at Pacific

The University of the Pacific is pleased to launch a new grant program to advance our commitment to diversity and inclusion. This grant program provides students, staff and faculty on each campus an opportunity to seek funding to support events and programming that enhance diversity and inclusion at Pacific. The program seeks to:

  • Provide diverse experiences for our students.
  • Inspire deeper engagement within our community.
  • Focus on enhanced appreciation from donors because of our commitment to diversity.
  • Foster a culture that enhances recruitment and retention of faculty and staff.

The Diversity Leadership Team and University Diversity Committee are accepting grant proposals that support events and/or programs on all three campuses that highlight the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion to develop a positive climate at Pacific where every person is welcomed for their inherent worth and dignity.

They look forward to supporting proposals that represent ongoing events and programming as well as new programming. This includes single events hosted by a constituency group within the university and series of events, conversations, and activities coordinated and hosted by faculty, staff and/or student organizations.

To ensure accountability and to share the success of funded events and programming, successful applicants will communicate event/program information through robust marketing, conduct post-event surveys to evaluate early impact and achievement of intended outcomes, and share their results with the community at large so we can continue to build on our successes each year.

The first proposal submission period for 2019–20 grants, the program’s pilot year, is from Dec. 1, 2019 to Jan. 17, 2020. Proposals will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the University Diversity Committee. Funding decision notifications will be sent to recipients by the first week of February 2020.
