The Division of Continuing Dental Education (CDE) at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry is now accepting registrations for its fall and winter courses. 

The Dugoni School has significant expertise in caring for a diverse range of patients and conditions, and CDE’s courses extend the availability of that knowledge to the greater oral health professional community. Two new courses are of particular interest. Traumatic Injuries to Rehabilitation: A Multidisciplinary Symposium will feature five of the dental school’s department chairs. Through real cases, surgical insights and practical frameworks, this symposium bridges the gap between emergency management and definitive care from a multidisciplinary approach. The Neuroaffirmative Dental Care for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder webinar will help educate dentists with strategies to provide compassionate care, improve communication and make their clinical environments welcoming places for neurodivergent pediatric patients. 

Traumatic Injuries to Rehabilitation: A Multidisciplinary Symposium • Saturday, Oct. 17
This in-depth, multidisciplinary symposium brings together experts from pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, orthodontics and restorative dentistry to deliver a clear, step-by-step clinical roadmap for managing trauma from initial injury through long-term rehabilitation. Participants will learn exactly how to assess injuries with confidence, stabilize what matters most, avoid common pitfalls and make high-level decisions about treatment versus referral.

2026 Dental Hygiene Symposium • Saturday, Nov. 7
Aimed at dental hygienists, and also highly relevant to dentists and other allied dental professionals, this year’s Dental Hygiene Symposium will feature two lectures by expert Martha McComas, RDH, MS:  Advances in Local Anesthesia and Pain Management Strategies and Current Concepts in Caries Management by Risk Assessment.

Beyond Apical Surgery: Management of Complex Microsurgical Procedures • Saturday, Nov. 7 – Sunday, Nov. 8
This immersive two-day workshop is designed to equip endodontists with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform advanced endodontic surgical procedures. The hands-on program will primarily focus on complex molar surgeries, particularly those involving difficult-to-access areas. Participants will gain practical, guided experience essential for handling high-level clinical cases under surgical operating conditions.

Live Webinar: Neuroaffirmative Dental Care for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder • Saturday, Nov. 14
This live, interactive webinar is designed for dental professionals seeking practical strategies to provide compassionate, neuroaffirmative care for children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. Participants will explore how to create an inclusive dental experience through individualized, patient-centered support and collaborative clinical systems within their offices.

Live Webinar: Update on Infection Control and the California Dental Practice Act • Saturday, Jan. 9
The Dental Board of California requires all dentists, registered dental hygienists and registered dental assistants to take two units each of dental law and infection control every two years in order to renew their licenses. This webinar fulfills mandatory state requirements while updating practitioners on key regulatory standards and safety protocols.

The Dugoni School’s Alumni Association offers a special benefit for dues-paying members —whether they are graduates of the school or not. Individuals who join the association or renew by January 4, 2027 may take this webinar at no additional charge. 

32nd Annual Island Dental Colloquium — Kaua'i • Monday, Feb. 22 –  Friday, Feb. 26
This annual travel and learning experience, hosted by the Dugoni School of Dentistry and UCSF School of Dentistry, features multi-day courses presented by distinguished featured speakers Drs. Marcos Vargas, Erin E. Elliott and Edmond Bedrossian. The colloquium will be held at The Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort from 7:30 am to 11:30 am daily, allowing participants ample opportunity to take advantage of the many leisure and recreation opportunities on the island of Kaua'i.
