University of the Pacific continued to improve in national rankings, moving up 29 places on Forbes’ “American’s Top Colleges 2018.”

University of the Pacific continues to make strong strides in national rankings as reflected this week when Forbes listed the university among "America's Top Colleges."

Pacific was ranked No. 241, up from No. 270 a year ago and up from No. 316 two years ago. Forbes' 11th annual list ranked its top 650 colleges as a way to "measure what we believe students care about most," mainly the direct benefits schools provide their graduates such as alumni salaries, debt load after graduation, retention and graduation rates, and alumni success.

"The work we are doing in the classroom and in helping students to succeed is working," said Pacific President Pam Eibeck. "It's gratifying that people outside of Pacific are seeing and appreciating what we're doing to make our students successful and the strong value in receiving an education from Pacific. Moving up 29 rankings since last year and 75 in two years is testament to our commitment to prepare students to attain their dreams and enrich their communities."

Pacific also made large strides in the Private Colleges category, moving up 26 places to No. 164 from No. 190.

In other rankings, Pacific was listed at No. 47 for universities in the Western United States, up from No. 49. The university also moved up in the Research Universities category to No. 124 from No. 129 a year ago.

The university remained steady at No. 280 in Forbes' Best Values Colleges category.

Pacific moved up one spot among universities in the West Coast Conference.
