Pacific earns high marks nationwide in academics, student services and sustainability

University of the Pacific continues to shine as a top institution of higher education based on several recent national rankings. Several national organizations in the past few weeks have lauded Pacific for its academic programs, student success services, diversity and inclusion, sustainability and more. Here are the rankings:

U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard 2019

  • No. 3: Salary After Attending among similar-sized universities in California
  • No. 13: Salary After Attending among California universities
  • No. 32: Salary After Attending among similar-sized universities in United States

U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2020

  • No. 39: Top Performers on Social Mobility, measuring how well schools graduated students who received Pell Grants, which go to students from households whose family income is less than $50,000 per year
  • No. 53: Best Value Schools for students looking at academic quality and cost
  • Best Ethnic Diversity, looking at the proportion of minority students and overall mix of ethnic groups

Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education 2020

  • No. 21 in the West
  • Resources highlighted: financial aid, faculty-student ratio and faculty scholarship
  • Environment highlighted: student and faculty diversity, percentage of international
  • Outcomes highlighted:  graduation rates, alumni salaries, debt after graduation and reputation

Sierra Clubs' Coolest Schools 2019

No. 144: Recent and upcoming sustainability projects include:

  • Replaced 850 toilets with low-flow models
  • Added water bottle filling stations ("hydration stations")
  • Installed LED lighting in Alex G. Spanos Center
  • Installed solar dining tables outside the DeRosa University Center
  • Installing solar shades in several parking lots in 2020
