Pacific to offer expanded student health services for fall 2019

To ensure all students on Pacific's three campuses have access to appropriate care, and to meet the increased demand for services, the Division of Student Life will expand student health, counseling and psychological services this fall.

For the past several years, Pacific has required full-time students to pay a health fee that provides them access to a broad range of health and counseling services. Starting this fall, Pacific is extending the student health fee, along with the services that go along with it, to all part-time students except those enrolled in online or hybrid programs. This change will now enable our part-time students to have access to the current and expanded health services provided to our full-time students. Some of these services will include:  

Student Health Services  

Health clinics on all three campuses

  • Services include same-day appointments, testing, diagnosis, treatment of illnesses and injuries, specialty referrals, physicals, immunizations and women's health care.

Nutrition counseling and eating disorder care 

  • Services include medical nutrition therapy for medically related issues, sports/athletic performance nutrition, lifestyle and behavioral counseling, and eating disorder therapy as part of a comprehensive care team that includes campus doctors and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) staff.

Telehealth (LiveHealth Online) 

  • Online visits with a board-certified doctor, psychiatrist or licensed therapist. Doctors are available 24/7, psychiatrists and therapists are available for appointments seven days a week.

Coming fall 2019

  • Onsite pharmacies: Students will be able to purchase discounted prescription antibiotics and other frequently prescribed medications.
  • Immunization clinics: Traveling immunization clinics will be offered at various locations on all three campuses
  • Health insurance coordinator: Will be able to assist students with referrals, pre-authorization, and health insurance options by phone.   

More to come: Future plans include hiring a local supervising doctor who will be available for student referrals, preventive health and wellness education and programming, and telehealth online appointments.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Services including group therapy, individual and couples sessions, informal consultations, and online assisted therapy for students experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, depression, adjustment concerns, and/or more serious mental health issues. CAPS also offers psychiatric medication management, crisis consultation and preventative outreach/education on a variety of mental health topics.

Therapy Assistance Online (TAO) 

  • This online, self-help therapy website offers students support and education for anxiety, depression, substance use problems, relationship concerns and more.

  •  Online training for faculty, staff and students to learn and practice how to have conversations with those struggling with mental health challenges.
