Parking and Traffic Advisory for Wednesday, Oct. 24

On Wednesday, Oct. 24, University of the Pacific's Stockton Campus will host two major events that will impact parking and traffic.

Spanos Celebration of Life
The Alex G. Spanos Center will be the site for a private (invitation only) celebration of life for Alex G. Spanos on Wednesday, Oct. 24. To accommodate parking for the large number of guests, parking lots 1, 2 and 3 (see attached map) will be closed to students and employees late evening on Tuesday, Oct. 23, through approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Parking will be available at the Central United Methodist Church lot (across Pacific Avenue from the Stockton Campus) and the First Baptist Church lot (formerly the Scottish Rite Center) for students and employees. The Spanos Family is providing two shuttle buses that will operate continuously from 7 a.m. to  5 p.m. between these two parking lots and several stops on the Stockton Campus (see attached map and list of shuttle stops). After 5 p.m., Public Safety will continue to provide shuttle service for students and employees via the Campus Shuttle Program.

Safe Trick-or-Treat
The Stockton Campus is hosting Pacific's 20th annual Safe Trick-or-Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24. More than 5,000 local children and family members are expected to trick-or-treat throughout campus. Members of the Pacific community will hand out candy to children as they visit campus buildings, followed by a carnival on the Knoles and DeRosa University Center lawns. Information booths will be located at Burns Tower and the Atchley Clock Tower.

Stagg Way will be closed to inbound traffic at 5 p.m. and will re-open when the event has concluded. Public Safety will also be prepared to close Knoles Way to inbound traffic as needed to provide for the anticipated crowds in the area of Knoles Lawn and the DeRosa University Center. Please exercise caution when departing from campus from 5 to 7 p.m. Public Safety officers will direct traffic to provide for the safety of children and their families.
