While University of the Pacific is learning and working remotely, the Office of Title IX wants to remind members of our community that maintaining an academic program free from sex/gender discrimination remains a high priority. Members of the community should be aware of the following three important points: 

1. The Title IX office remains accessible remotely at this time. Anyone impacted by sex/gender discrimination is encouraged to contact the Title IX office at titleix@pacific.edu to make a report. A report can also be filed online. Investigations and hearings will be conducted remotely and remedies provided to ensure that any sexual harassment, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, stalking, retaliation or other sexually discriminatory behaviors are addressed promptly. 
   
   
2. University policies on sexual misconduct apply to behaviors that occur in person between members of the university community, but also apply to online and virtual misconduct. Any behavior that is prohibited by policy is also likely prohibited in cyber forms, including cyberharassment, cyberbullying that is sex-based, and cyberstalking. Members of the community are expected to uphold Pacific’s value of respect and civility in online classes just as they would if they were in class physically.
   
   
3. Faculty and staff members who are mandated reporters are reminded that reporting of alleged sexual misconduct is expected when they become aware of incidents or allegations involving members of the campus community, regardless of how they learn of the potential misconduct, whether in person, in writing or online.

How to Report

We encourage you to report all forms of sexual misconduct committed by or against any member of our community. Reporting will not change what happened to you or a member of our community, but it may help stop it from happening to you again or from happening to someone else.

Confidential Reporting

The Student Victim Advocate and therapists from Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)—working in their capacity as therapists—are confidential reporting resources. They can take a confidential report, connect a victim to support resources and explain the various options for filing a formal complaint.

Reporting to the University

Pacific takes incidents of sexual misconduct very seriously and encourages reporting. Survivors are free to report instances of sexual misconduct to the university regardless of whether they choose to press formal charges with law enforcement. A report can also be filed online.
