United Way campaign kicks off at Pacific

University of the Pacific’s support of its communities continues this year through the United Way campaign that includes our Stockton, Sacramento and San Francisco campuses.

The campaign will be part of our benefits open enrollment, which will run October 28 through November 24. Information on how to donate to United Way is included in the open enrollment packets mailed last week to faculty and staff home addresses.

The United Way drive has a definite Pacific tie this year with alumna Kristen Spracher-Birtwhistle, ’81, ’87, as the new CEO of United Way San Joaquin. Donations also directly benefit members of the university and our communities through our Pacific Food Pantry, Medicare Part D clinics and the Community Involvement Program (CIP), just to name a few.

For faculty and staff who live and/or work in the areas governed by the Sacramento and Bay Area United Ways, you will be able to designate donations to those communities.

United Way San Joaquin has not set a monetary goal for this year’s drive, but is trying for an increase of 25 percent in the number of people who give any amount. Our universitywide goal is to increase giving to 323 gifts — 65 additional gifts.

Pacific employees who donate to the drive will be entered into drawings for prizes that include an annual parking pass, season tickets for Pacific basketball, bookstore merchandise and more.

Please consider joining in this very important community campaign.
