Linda E. Coco joined the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law faculty in July 2024 as Director of the Legal Clinics and a Professor of Law. She also serves as co-director of McGeorge’s Bankruptcy Clinic, which is dedicated to advancing access to debt relief. In 2026, Professor Coco established the Bankruptcy Pro Se Clinic to assist individuals in the Eastern District of California who seek to file a bankruptcy petition. Her areas of expertise include Bankruptcy Law, Civil Procedure, Contracts Law, and Commercial Law. Professor Coco emphasizes the significance of clinical practice and experiential learning in legal education.
Professor Coco earned a PhD in Legal Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2011 and a JD from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2000. Prior to joining McGeorge School of Law, she taught in the JD program and directed the Master of Law Program at Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco. She has also taught at Barry University School of Law in Florida and in the JD and LLM program at St. John’s University School of Law in New York.
Before entering academia, Professor Coco served as a federal law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Maryland and the Northern District of California. Professor Coco is admitted to practice in the State of California, the District of Columbia, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Professor Coco has published several law review and sociocultural articles on neoliberalism, debt, and bankruptcy. She is also the co-author, with Ralph Nader, of the book Children First: A Parent's Guide to Fighting Corporate Predators, published in 1996.
