Gladys L. Benerd Memorial 5K

Benerd College namesake Gladys L. Benerd was passionate about health and fitness.

Join us for a 5K walk/run through the beautiful University of the Pacific campus to honor her legacy and celebrate our landmark centennial year!

Entry fee includes running shirt, exclusive swag, & refreshments.

Family friendly event! Kids 10 and under are encouraged to participate in a 100 yard dash prior to the 5K free of charge with paid adult registration. The Stockton Fire Department will also be on hand to provide information about fire safety, honoring Gladys L. Benerd's lifelong support of first responders.

Established in 1924, when the university relocated from San Jose, Benerd College has been at the forefront of higher education, consistently delivering a rich and diverse learning experience to countless students. 1949

After joining Pacific’s staff in 1939, Gladys L. Benerd quickly became known for her ready willingness to help all students.

1956

In its early days, the School of Education occupied Owen Hall.

1961

Educator Ramiro Montes, and Pedro Osuna, assistant professor of education, developed a Mexican student teaching program for Pacific.

1965

Professors Dr. Juannita Curtis and D.H.M. Afshar discuss challenges facing educators.

1973

Members of the Commission of the Associated Students of the School of Education review their initiatives for the year ahead.

1989

1992

School of Education Dean Fay Haisley (left) and Academic Vice President Joseph Subbiondo unveil the sign bearing Gladys L. Benerd’s name.

2019

A ribbon-cutting takes place for the new Benerd College, which merged the highly regarded Gladys L. Benerd School of Education and University College.

2022

A cohort of Benerd graduate students meet for their residency in Sacramento.
