A Day of Birding at Big Trees State Park

Date: Friday, June 27

Time: 7:30 AM-4:30 PM

Location: Starbucks, 4426 Waterloo Rd., Stockton, CA

Fee: $65 each per member

Instructor: David Yee, avian expert and author

Join David Yee for a pleasant, leisurely day of birding and nature appreciation at historic Big Trees. The birding there at this time of year is just wonderful as it’s at the height of the nesting season. We can expect most of the special birds of the Sierra except for those of real high elevations. Some of the regular nesters include White-headed Woodpecker, Williamson’s Sapsucker, Mountain Chickadee, Purple Finch, Pacific Wren, MacGillivray’s Warbler, Hermit Warbler, Warbling Vireo and Black-headed Grosbeak. Of course the highlight is just being among the majestic Sequoia Trees, which are among the oldest and tallest in the world.

IMPORTANT: You will be meeting at Starbucks on Highway 88 near Highway 99 at 7:30 am. You can meet your friends there and carpool together. Hiking footwear is required, and a walking stick is recommended. Bring your own lunch to enjoy on site at 12 noon. For additional questions, you can email David Yee at birdmanyee@gmail.com.
