(CSO) Life and Law: Confronting Substance Abuse in the Legal Profession
12:15 p.m. - 01:15 p.m.
Join us for an interactive discussion with David Mann, where we will delve into the brain chemistry of addiction and alcoholism, exploring the behavioral and health consequences of this disease. Gain insights into the unique personality traits of attorneys and the pressures of the legal profession that make them more vulnerable to addiction—and harder to treat—than the general population. The presentation includes a case study of an attorney battling addiction, as well as a self-diagnosis exercise for those concerned they may need help. We’ll also explore both systemic and individual solutions, offering strategies and resources specifically for legal professionals. With humor and irony, Mr. Mann invites law students to engage in self-reflection around this serious issue. Lunch will be provided! RSVP before 10/15 at 5pm.
