McGeorge Policy Perspectives Speaker Series Event 2025
McGeorge Policy Perspectives Speaker Series Event 2025
05:30 p.m. - 07:00 p.m.
Join McGeorge School of Law’s Capital Center for Law & Policy on Oct. 7, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. for the Third Annual Policy Perspectives Speaker Series event, “Representation, Rhetoric & Reshaping the American Electorate: A Conversation with Mike Madrid.”
Madrid is the author of The Latino Century: How America’s Largest Minority is Transforming Democracy, which focuses on an investigation into how and why the two major political parties have failed to effectively appeal to the Latinx vote—the largest ethnic voting group in the country—and the impact it will have on American democracy and politics going forward.
Mike Madrid is a veteran political consultant and former Political Director for the California Republican Party. His perspective encompasses his 30 years of research and campaign experience at the highest levels on both sides of the aisle. Our conversation will focus on whether the increase in Latinx voters, both in California and nationwide, is likely to contribute to the polarization of the current political landscape or instead usher in a new pluralism that could help to advance the arc of social progress. The discussion will also shed light on how and why both political parties seem to be unprepared for the increasing influence of Latinx votes and what each party must do to demonstrate policy-based responsiveness and representation.
Join the McGeorge’s Capital Center for Law & Policy for our 2025 Policy Perspectives Speaker Series featuring a moderated conversation followed by a hosted reception. The first 15 attendees at the event will receive a signed copy of The Latino Century.
