The Career Services Office (CSO) offers many recruitment opportunities for our employers. Post your advertisement for law clerk, entry-level, or experienced attorney positions on our career services management system, 12twenty, at no cost to you. We also offer on-campus interview programs twice a year, along with two job fairs: our Public Interest and Government Fair, and our Post-Graduate Job Fair.

Make an appointment with Isabella Hannon, Director of Recruitment, to discuss your full-time/part-time jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities.

Why Recruit at McGeorge?

McGeorge students acquire problem-solving skills that go beyond traditional legal competencies. Our students gain in-depth practical experience from our interdisciplinary and experiential courses including externships, legal clinics and robust simulations in trial advocacy and alternative dispute resolution. Our students are prepared for where lawyering is headed, not where it has been.

McGeorge is widely recognized for excellence in advocacy, law and policy, international law, health, water and the environment. McGeorge students are "practice-ready" and entrepreneurial legal thinkers who are ready to participate in a changing legal practice.

Participate in McGeorge's On-Campus Interview Programs (Fall and Spring)

Our free On-Campus Interview (OCI) programs allow you the opportunity to pre-screen all student applicants. We facilitate scheduling and provide private interview rooms, parking, and an on-site hosted lunch. For employers that are not able to make it during our scheduled sessions, please contact us — we are flexible and can arrange a more convenient time for your office or firm. Or you may be interested in our Resume Collection program, where you can collect student application materials and schedule interviews at your office, at your convenience.

The McGeorge Career Services Office expects employers to observe the principles of nondiscrimination and equality opportunity in hiring. It does not make its services, interviewing facilities, or jobs posting database available to employers who discriminate in the selection of employees or volunteers on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender (including identity and expression), sexual orientation, age, disability, or on any other basis prohibited by applicable law.

Recruitment Policies

1L Recruiting Guidelines

Recognizing that students’ attention during their first semester of law school should be primarily focused on their academic acculturation, McGeorge School of Law encourages employers to restrict their contact with 1Ls to mentoring — rather than on employment-related contact — until Nov. 1.

Standards for Offers & Decisions

  1. McGeorge School of Law expects employers and students to schedule interviews outside of student class times, and to avoid their exam period. Here is a link to the academic calendar.
  2. All offers for employment should remain open for at least fourteen days from the date of the written offer. Reasonable student requests for extensions should be honored. If employers need an exception to this standard, please contact McGeorge’s Assistant Director of Recruitment.

Externships

Students in externships pursue unique opportunities to gain practical experience under attorney supervision. Externships include government agencies, nonprofits, and limited private firms. All externship proposals require advance approval by the Director of Externships.

Join us by providing an externship opportunity to the next generation of lawyers.
