Bouchard, Tigers make history with back-to-back Visit Stockton Pacific invitational championships
Felix Bouchard '27
For the second consecutive year, University of the Pacific men's golf program stood atop the leaderboard on its home course, capturing the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational team championship Wednesday at The Reserve at Spanos Park, while Felix Bouchard ’27 completed a historic repeat of his own by claiming back-to-back individual titles.
The triumph by the Tigers (-20) marked the first time since the 1975-76 seasons that Pacific has won consecutive home tournaments, adding another milestone to the program's storied history.
Under the direction of head coach John Cook, Pacific successfully defended its home turf against the 18-team field, showcasing consistency and determination throughout the three-day tournament.
"Winning our home tournament is really important," Cook said. "This year, we have seven new guys on the roster and didn't know what to expect. These guys have been working really hard all fall, and I can't be prouder of their effort this week. To win here in front of our boosters, alumni and friends, it was awesome."
Bouchard once again delivered a championship-caliber performance, finishing the 54-hole competition at 11-under par to secure his second consecutive Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational individual crown.
The junior from Montreal entered Wednesday's final round tied for first place at six-under par after recording rounds of 70 and 68 during the opening two days. Bouchard followed with a five-under-par performance in the final round to finish at 205, completing another memorable week in Stockton.
His individual championship came one year after he captured the 2025 tournament title at 12-under par, when Pacific swept the top three individual positions en route to a dominant team victory.
"It feels great," Bouchard said. "My expectations for this course are really high. Being able to win is a nice little boost for me personally. I felt the nerves on the back nine and toward the end, but I did my best. Being able to win is a great motivation for everyone. We know we can do it. We are just going to try and do it again. Go Tigers!"
Pacific's championship effort began last Monday as the Tigers opened the tournament with a six-under-par, immediately positioning themselves among the leaders following 18 holes.
Alongside Bouchard, Will Tanaka ’27 helped establish Pacific's early momentum, opening the tournament with a four-under-par 68 before carding a one-under-par 71 in Tuesday's second round. At the end, Tanaka finished tied for third individually with an eight under-par.
Bradley Smolinski '27 (+5), Guillaume Paquette ’27 (E) and Aiden Tiet '30 (+3) rounded the Tigers' lineup this week, while Liam Eyer ’30 (-1), Leonas Jung ’30 (+4) and Ken Gao ’27 (+17) competed as individuals on the home soil.
The back-to-back team championships also represent another significant achievement for Cook, whose program has now captured consecutive team and individual titles at its home invitational for the first time in five decades. See the full leaderboard for the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.
With another team title secured at home in its back pocket, Pacific will carry momentum into its final tournament of the fall season, closing out the fall slate at the Saint Mary's Invitational, hosted by Saint Mary's in Seaside, California from October 19-21.
