For many law students, earning a degree is just the beginning. Finding a job and building a career are important considerations when choosing a law school, making employment outcomes an important measure of student and alumni success.

McGeorge School of Law was recently ranked No. 31 in the nation and No. 11 in California for improvement in employment outcomes, according to an analysis by The National Jurist. The rankings recognize the significant improvement McGeorge has made in employment outcomes for its graduates over the past decade.

To determine the rankings, The National Jurist analyzed employment data from the American Bar Association (ABA), comparing average employment rates for the classes of 2012–2014 with those of 2023–2025.

The analysis found that McGeorge’s employment rate increased from 55.8% for the classes of 2012–2014 to 79% for the classes of 2023–2025. This represents an improvement of 23.20 percentage points, or 41.50% growth, earning McGeorge the No. 31 spot nationally for improvement in employment outcomes.

Isabella Hannon, director of recruitment and programming for the Career Services Office, said the rankings reflect the hard work of McGeorge students and the broader law school community.

“McGeorge's recognition as the No. 31 most improved law school in the country for employment outcomes and No. 11 in California highlights the hard work and resilience of our students,” Hannon said. “These results demonstrate the value of a legal education that combines practical experience, individualized career support, and strong employer connections.”

Hannon also emphasized the continued commitment of McGeorge faculty, staff, alumni and employer partners to helping students prepare for their careers.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, faculty, alumni, employer partners, and career services team in creating pathways to professional growth and success,” Hannon said. “We remain committed to expanding opportunities, strengthening employer relationships, and supporting students throughout their legal career.”
