University of the Pacific’s Stockton Campus is once again serving as the backdrop to a major Hollywood production.

The campus is prominently featured in the new HBO original comedy series “Rooster” starring Steve Carell. Crews filmed on campus over the summer with students, faculty and staff serving as extras.

The show—which also stars Connie Britton, Phil Dunster and Charly Clive—premieres Sunday, March 8 at 10 p.m. on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. New episodes of the 10-episode season of “Rooster” will debut weekly through Sunday, May 10.

The story follows Carell’s character as he arrives to the fictitious Ludlow College to help his daughter through a complicated life situation.

The newly released trailer features several landmark buildings, and Burns Tower makes a cameo in the show’s promotional image.

The Stockton Campus has had a long and rich history with Hollywood, serving as the backdrop in many productions since the 1940s. Its first appearance was in the 1949 triple Academy Award winner "All the King's Men." Based on the career of Louisiana Governor Huey P. Long, the film classic was shot entirely in Stockton.

Faye Spanos also serves as the exterior setting for the fictitious Marshall College—the university where Indiana Jones teaches.

Other movies filmed on campus include:

  • "High Time" (1960)
  • "R.P.M." (1970)
  • "Dreamscape" (1984)
  • "The Sure Thing" (1985)
  • "Inventing the Abbotts" (1997)
  • “Flubber” (1997)
  • "Dead Man on Campus" (1998)
