Throughout the week, free activities will be available for students to interact with the campus community while promoting balance and mental health advocacy.

Students on the University of the Pacific’s Sacramento Campus will have an opportunity to pause, recharge and reconnect with their well-being during Wellness Week from Sept. 28-Oct. 1.

Throughout the week, organizations across the three schools will host free activities for students to promote mental health and the importance of balance.

Mónica Alarcón, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Programs and Faculty Events Manager at McGeorge, encourages students to attend as many events as possible as an opportunity to connect with others and the campus community.

“These activities not only cultivate relationships among peers but also strengthen connections within our campus community,” Alarcón said. “The programming offered during Wellness Week supports students’ academic performance by teaching healthy habits and providing opportunities to participate in activities that are fun and meaningful.”

Students have the opportunity to participate in 39 events hosted throughout the week, including bracelet making, coloring, Pilates, a garden tea party, and petting llamas.

Ashley Golledge, McGeorge’s Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications, is organizing the fourth annual “Kick the Drama, Pet a Llama” event. The llamas are brought in from the Llamas of Circle Home in Tuolumne County.

“The annual llama event has become a fan favorite on campus, and it’s always so much fun to see how excited our community gets when the llamas return,” Golledge said. “I’m thrilled to bring this tradition back again this year, and give everyone another chance to interact with the llamas.”
