Ready to feel a little more confident with today’s technology, and have fun doing it? David is offering another week-long summer series, packed with friendly, hands-on classes designed to help you create, organize, visualize, and even question the tech tools we use every day.
From designing eye-catching flyers with Canva, making sense of numbers in Excel, and organizing your life with OneNote, to a thought-provoking look at AI ethics, there’s something here for every curious mind. We’ll wrap up the week with an always-popular drop-in help session, where no question is too small and no tech mystery is too embarrassing
Date & Time: Monday, July 20
Location: Benerd College #110B
Canva is quickly becoming the free tool of choice to create beautiful flyers, social media posts, brochures, and other graphics — and replacing Microsoft Publisher (which is scheduled to disappear later this year). This class is designed for beginners of any Canva license (free or paid), as we learn how to create a variety of designs and save them for use in other applications or to share online. We’ll work with text, photos, stickers, and free templates while covering how to save and retrieve your work and publish content to social media.
Date: Tuesday, July 21
Location: Benerd College #110B
Excel offers many ways to communicate your numbers, including charts, sparklines, and conditional formatting. This beginner class explores those features with practical examples that are easy to use for all skill levels. We’ll create and format charts (line, pie, and others), change cell color based on values, and more.
▶ Participation requires a Microsoft 365 license (free, individual, family, or business). Attendees should confirm that Excel is installed and functional before registering for the class.

In David’s latest lecture, he explores the ethical implications and potential concerns surrounding the use of artificial intelligence (AI). We’ll explore topics including biases, privacy, deception, education, politics, and the environment through real-world examples, studies, personal anecdotes, and interactive examples. Bring your questions for Q&A that follows the lecture.

Are you still taking notes on paper?! Step up to OneNote, the digital note-taking tool that’s part of Microsoft 365 on your desktop, the web, and on your mobile devices. Capture typed and hand-written notes, insert images and tables, paste just about anything you can copy, even drag-and-drop attachments… you can organize your life across multiple notebooks, sections, and pages. Then search and tag your notes to make them easy to find, with everything syncing to the cloud.
