California Initiative Forum 2026
California Initiative Forum 2026
05:00 p.m. - 07:00 p.m.
The California Initiative Forum will be presented on Oct. 21, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. in the Lecture Hall on the McGeorge campus. The Forum will also be livestreamed.
The Forum will feature objective and neutral analyses of statewide ballot propositions that voters will be asked to consider on the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election ballots. Students in Professor Mary-Beth Moylan’s California Initiative Seminar have analyzed the propositions and will provide both written and oral reports to the community in these two public forums.
An educated electorate is critical to a functioning democracy. In California, where we have the power of direct democracy enshrined in our state constitution, the need for voters to understand the issues is even stronger. The California Initiative Forum presents an opportunity for all California voters to educate themselves about the changes that are proposed through the initiative process and any unintended consequences that might flow from a yes or no vote on the propositions.
The event is co-sponsored by McGeorge’s Capital Center for Law and Policy and the Law and Civic Engagement Initiative.
