Concert: From the Alps to Pacific
Concert: From the Alps to Pacific
06:30 p.m. - 07:30 p.m.
The Conservatory of Music presents a special evening celebrating the launch of University of the Pacific’s Alphorn Project, an innovative initiative exploring the historic alphorn as both a performance instrument and a teaching tool for modern brass players. The program will feature solo and chamber works performed by Professor Sadie Glass and conservatory students, along with selections by the Pacific Alphorn Ensemble.
Dating back centuries to the Swiss Alps, the alphorn produces sound using only the natural overtone series—without valves or slides—offering a direct connection to the earliest traditions of brass performance. Under the direction of Professor Sadie Glass, one of four national ambassadors for the Alphorn Project, Pacific students are helping bring new life to this remarkable instrument.
This event is open to the public and free to attend.
