About Lavender Graduation:
In 1995, Dr. Ronni Sanlo started the tradition when she noticed there were no ceremonies to honor LGBTQ+ students at the time. The first Lavender Graduation took place at the University of Michigan in 1995 with three graduates. Today, over 500 colleges and universities, including Pacific, offer Lavender Graduation ceremonies for their students.
