Music therapists assess client needs and design music programs for individuals and groups with the goal of improving emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills.
University of the Pacific offers graduate degree programs in Music Therapy for both entry-level and advanced-level training at both the San Francisco and Stockton campuses. The Master of Arts in Musict Therapy program begins with strong foundational musicianship and adds specific knowledge and skills that meet both the professional and advanced-level competencies established by the American Music Therapy Association.
Available options include:
- A two-year, 32-unit program for board-certified music therapists or candidates eligible to sit for the board examination
- A three-year, 55-unit program + internship for students with an undergraduate degree in music or a music therapy related field
