Pacific welcomes new assistant professor of cello DoYeon Kim

DoYeon Kim

DoYeon Kim joins the faculty at University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music as assistant professor of practice in cello, effective July 2026. Previously, she served as visiting assistant professor of cello and double bass at Austin Peay State University.

As a performer, Kim has appeared at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and Stern Auditorium and presented solo recitals at the Seoul Arts Center. She has served as assistant principal cellist of the Washington Chamber Orchestra and has collaborated with members of the Ying, American, Shanghai, Ariel, and Cavani Quartets. 

A founding member of the Dante Deo Trio and core member of Ensemble Evolve, Kim is dedicated to championing new and diverse repertoire. As an educator, she has taught at Ocean County College, the University of Mount Saint Vincent, and the Luzerne Music Center. She has also worked with El Sistema–inspired programs including the Paterson Music Project. 

Beyond the concert stage, Kim volunteers with GoodBeats, bringing live music to hospitals and care facilities in the Washington, D.C. area.

Kim holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music.
