Two McGeorge professors appointed to Associate Dean positions

Two professors at the University of Pacific McGeorge School of Law, Distinguished Professor Jarrod Wong and Professor Mary-Beth Moylan, have been appointed to Associate Dean roles effective July 1.

Wong is the new Associate Dean of Scholarship, previously held by Professor Leslie Gielow Jacobs from 2024 - June 2026. Moylan will serve as the inaugural Associate Dean of Advocacy.

After hearing the exciting news about becoming the new Associate Dean of Scholarship, Wong instantly got to work, creating ideas for new opportunities for scholarly engagement.

“My role extends well beyond helping faculty members produce written scholars,” Wong said. “I think it encompasses the entire ecosystem through which ideas are developed, shared, debated, refined, and brought into public conversation.”

Wong hopes to not only help support faculty members in advancing their scholarship but also to increase the visibility of the pieces once published. Combined with creating more opportunities for scholarly engagement, such as workshops, to further help build McGeorge’s scholarly community.

All McGeorge faculty members’ published work can be found on the scholarlycommons website.

“A key to attracting outstanding faculty members is to show them what a rich scholarly community we have,” Wong said. “So that when they come over, they have colleagues that can engage with them, and they can connect with and help them think outside the bounds of their particular field.”

As the new semester starts and professors begin dedicating their time to educating students, Wong aims to help his colleagues to thrive as individual scholars outside of teaching.

In addition to this role, Wong also serves as the Co-Director of the Global Center for Business and Development. He teaches courses on International Dispute Resolution, International Investment Law and Arbitration, International Commercial Arbitration, International Economic Law, U.S. and International Arbitration, Contracts, U.S. and International Sale of Goods, and Remedies.

Recently, McGeorge hosted the University of the Pacific Law Review Symposium in 2025 and 2026, as well as the Patent and Trademark Law Conference in 2025.

In her new role as Associate Dean of Advocacy, Moylan will work closely with McGeorge’s competition teams, including moot court, mock trial, negotiations, mediation, and client counseling competition teams.

McGeorge’s moot court program finished No. 13 in the nation for the 2025 fall semester, according to rankings published by the Blakely Advocacy Institute.

Trial Advocacy programs were ranked No. 16 in the nation for the second consecutive year, and its Dispute Resolution program was ranked No. 24 according to the U.S. News & World Report rankings.

“I’m most excited about supporting our already excellent programs in our competition teams,” Moylan said. “I’m also really excited about reviving some of the events and programming that the advocacy program used to do.”

Moylan hopes to revive the Lou Ash Lecture series, an endowed lecture series that has not been put on for a few years. Moylan also looks forward to showing off the McGeorge campus during upcoming competitions.

In the fall, McGeorge will be hosting the American Bar Association Negotiations Competition and the National Ethics Trial Competition in the following spring.

“I’m really happy to be contributing to the school in a positive way in this position. And I’m excited for the opportunity to work with all the great faculty and students who make up our advocacy center,” Moylan said.

The 2026 spring issue of preLaw Magazine awarded the Eglet Center for Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution, named after alumnus and Regent Robert T. Eglet ’88 and his law partner and wife, Tracy A. Eglet, an A for Alternative Dispute Resolution, placing the program among the top 10 nationally.

In addition to this role, Moylan also serves as the Co-Director of the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning. She teaches courses on Ballot Initiatives, Civil Procedure, Elections, and Professional Ethics.
