The efforts of Anthony P. Morreale ’83, PharmD, MBA, CPEL, BCPS, FASHP to utilize pharmacists have expanded health care access for veterans nationwide. Dr. Morreale served in various clinical and leadership roles at the VA San Diego Healthcare System from 1985 until 2010, when he was selected to create the Clinical Pharmacy Practice Office for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C.

Class of 1959
The 16 graduates of the inaugural class all passed the state licensure exam on the first attempt.
Class of 2025
We celebrated 199 PharmD, nine PhD and four MS graduates.
1955
Classes for the newly minted school of pharmacy were held in Weber Hall.
1960
The school reached peak enrollment of 250 students, a testament to the quality of the program and the catalysis for the development of North Campus.
1969
Construction on the Edward and Alice Long Memorial Hall was completed.
1976
The Rotunda has served as a home to many programs including pharmacy, drama and physical therapy. Today, it consists of the Jonathan Chan and Megan Chan Auditorium, various classrooms and faculty offices.
2003
Chan Family Health Sciences Learning Center and Clinics was completed, with 2018 renovations adding classrooms, offices and study spaces.
2001
Pacific's regents accepted a $13 million grant from the Thomas J. Long Foundation. The name Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy recognizes more than $20 million of support from the foundation and the Long family over the course of the school’s history.

Michael Pavlovich inducted into California Pharmacy Hall of Fame
A trailblazer in sports medicine who is trusted by professional athletes nationwide, Michael Pavlovich ’89, PharmD, FAPhA was inducted into the California Pharmacy Hall of Fame in 2025.
In addition to working with collegiate athletes, he has advised clients from the MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, he supported Team USA as team pharmacist.
He owns and operates Westcliff Compounding Pharmacy in Newport Beach.

Jie Du receives Distinguished Professional Service Award
Pharmaceutical entrepreneur and Regent Jie Du ’90, ’93, PhD received University of the Pacific’s Distinguished Professional Service Award, recognizing her notable career achievements.
After a successful corporate career in the pharmaceutical industry, she founded JDP Therapeutics Inc. and led as president and chief executive officer until its acquisition in 2019. She developed Quzyttir, an innovative injectable therapeutic for acute allergic reactions.
In 2020, she donated $5 million to establish the Jie Du Center for Innovation and Excellence for Drug Development at Pacific.

Jonathan Hashimoto receives Excellence in Innovation Award
Jonathan M. Hashimoto ’08, PharmD, APh was recognized by the California Pharmacists Association for his groundbreaking work in reshaping the landscape of pharmacy. In 2025, he received the prestigious Excellence in Innovation Award.
Dr. Hashimoto is the chief clinical officer at Avina Health, a division of Komoto Healthcare. Their approach to transition of care has received national recognition. His team provides clinical care to high-risk patients throughout the Central Valley and in South Los Angeles.
