The Eberhardt DEI Council recognizes and honors Black History Month with “A Conversation with 5 Eberhardt School of Business Black Alums”

DEI Featured Story

Black History Month is a time to focus our attention on the contributions, triumphs and history of African Americans in the United States, from all periods of U.S. history.

Throughout the month of February, the Eberhardt School of Business celebrates Black History Month, honoring and recognizing greatness, excellence and legacies within the Black community—on and off campus. This February 2022, the Eberhardt School Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council hosted “Real Talk: Young, Gifted, and Black,” a conversation with five Eberhardt School of Business African American alums.

“Real Talk: Young, Gifted and Black” pulled together five African American Eberhardt School alums to cultivate discussion and conversation around their Pacific and Eberhardt School student experiences and the challenges they have faced being young, gifted and Black in their respective industries, and to reminisce about the skills they learned at Pacific that now prove useful in their careers. The talk got real as these alums also opened up with advice to soon-to-be graduates and fresh faces in the workplace and thought about the advice they would offer to themselves if they could go back in time.

The following alumni lead the panel discussion:

  • Shannel Hawkins – Leadership Programs at Netflix
  • Philip Johnson – Director of Growth Marketing at Mayvenn
  • Jasmine Jordan – Director of Business Development – Head of Beauty and Fashion at Americhip
  • Anwaar Lacy – Premium Service Manager for the Las Vegas Raiders
  • Kali Roberts – Senior Marketing Coordinator at Duckhorn

We would like to thank these Pacific and Eberhardt School alumni for sharing their stories, insights, advice and wisdom with our Eberhardt School and Pacific community. It was a very inspiring session, with over 89 Pacificans in attendance.

The Eberhardt School of Business Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council is dedicated to providing a safe place for celebrating cultures, providing transformative educational experiences and the opportunity to create a lasting impact on the Pacific campus.
