Dr. Homayon Asadi ’88 serves as chair and professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and as interim associate dean of clinical services at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. He has been a dedicated faculty member since 1990 and is a long-standing course director. Dr. Asadi is a past chair of the Institutional Review Board at the University of the Pacific and has maintained a private practice for the past 37 years.
A graduate of the Class of 1988, Dr. Asadi remains an active and engaged member of the Dugoni School community. He lectures extensively on a wide range of continuing education topics for organizations, including the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association and Dugoni School of Dentistry’s Continuing Dental Education division.
Dr. Asadi is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and the Tau Kappa Omega Honor Society. He is also a fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He serves on the Test Construction Committee for the Advanced Dental Aptitude Test and the Integrated National Board Dental Examination of the American Dental Association, and acts as a site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Alumni Association is proud to present the Medallion of Distinction to Dr. Homayon Asadi for his exceptional contributions to the profession of dentistry, his local community and the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

Elena M. Francisco, RDHAP, MS, earned her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from Loma Linda University and her master’s degree in dental hygiene from Idaho State University. She practiced clinically in San Joaquin County for more than 40 years and became licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice in 2005.
Elena has served on the Dugoni School of Dentistry’s dental hygiene faculty since 2005 and recently retired as director of the Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP) program. She currently works as a consultant with the Pacific Center for Equity in Oral Health Care, where she supports expert collaboration, prepares grant proposals and provides subject-matter expertise in dental hygiene. She has authored several journal articles and contributed the chapter on “Protocols and Prevention of Dental Caries” in the 12th edition of Clinical Practice of the Dental Hygienist and served on the Peer Review Board for Dimensions of Dental Hygiene.
A dedicated advocate for her profession, Elena remains active through mentoring, writing and participating on local boards and committees. The Alumni Association is proud to present the Medallion of Distinction to Elena M. Francisco in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the profession of dentistry, her local community and the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.
