Add to Calendar 2024-08-13 17:00:00 2024-08-13 18:00:00 McGeorge Centennial Speaker Series: “Leadership and Antiracism in Legal Education" Danielle Conway, Dean of Penn State Dickinson Law, will discuss “Leadership and Antiracism in Legal Education” as part of the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law’s Centennial Celebration Speaker Series on August 13, 2024 from 5-6 p.m. PT in Grand Salon.Preview of Dean Conway's lecture: Antiracism requires, at a minimum, a commitment to acknowledgement, knowledge acquisition, and action, while antiracist leadership requires embedding antiracism into a leader’s priorities so that there is a new level of clarity in visioning systems change. Leaders can then act to develop and implement antiracism plans, processes, and practices. To celebrate the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law Centennial, I will discuss how to approach the work to dismantle systems of inequity and replace them with systems of equity by: (1) strengthening the antiracist leadership muscle; (2) prototyping, testing, and implementing vision priorities that embed antiracism throughout functions of the organization; and (3) building trust and capacity to achieve a willingness among colleagues to engage with antiracism.Throughout 2024, guest speakers from law schools across the country – including legal experts like Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, Professor Susan Kuo, Professor William Eskridge Jr., Professor Cheryl Wade, Professor Aya Gruber, and more – will share their insights in an array of legal topics. RSVP complimentary but required: https://mcgeorgegraduatelaw.wufoo.com/forms/qny9o207ff63b/Learn more: https://www.pacific.edu/law/centennial. 3200 5th Ave, Sacramento, CA 95817, USA McGeorge School of Law McGeorge School of Law America/Los_Angeles public
