Acorns, Woodpeckers and Galls, Oh My! – Oak Grove Regional Park Tour

What secrets does the ancient Valley Oak Woodland hold for us in early September? We’ll watch for flashy, noisy birds, ripening acorns, and alien-like growths on the oaks as we explore the Yokuts Trail, tour the Nature Center (air-conditioned!), and take a close look at the new atrium Native Plant Demonstration Garden to learn how you can plant your own wildlife-friendly “park” in your own backyard.

Birding at O’Connor Woods

In the classroom setting, David will be sharing how to identify birds, some of their recent migration and history and what to listen and look for. After the class, you will go for a short bird outing on the beautiful O’Connor Woods campus.

Bird Safari I – Lodi Lake

There might not be a better spot in San Joaquin County to observe fall migrants than Lodi Lake. This riparian gem along the Mokelumne River and the lake itself attracts many wonderful bird species.

Acquiesce Winery Tasting Experience

A visit to Acquiesce Winery is like stepping into a serene, sun-kissed vineyard paradise where every sip takes you on a journey. Enjoy an elevated tasting experience consisting of four wines and four small food bites.

Stockton East Water District Plant Tour

Date & Time: Oct. 3 | 10–11:30 AM

The Stockton East Water District tour offers an engaging, guided experience through the water treatment plant and on-site laboratory. Participants will learn how raw water from local sources is treated, filtered, and tested to ensure it meets high-quality drinking standards. The tour provides a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the vital processes that deliver clean, safe water to the community

Explore Morris Chapel – An OLLI Homecoming Event

This guided tour of the University of the Pacific’s Morris Chapel will focus on various aspects of its long history. From the conception and construction, to the ornate details of the stained glass windows and the grand pipe organ, guests will see and experience this prized gem in a new light.

Bird Safari II – Cosumnes River Preserve

Date & Time: Oct. 17 | 10 AM–12 PM

This amazing Preserve protects some of the largest remaining woodland and marsh habitats left in the Central Valley. The extensive array of boardwalks will allow us to obtain wonderful views of sandhill cranes, geese, ducks, shorebirds, and wintering raptors such as the bald eagle and peregrine falcon.

Michael David Wine Tasting Experience

Date & Time: Oct. 24 | 1–2:30 PM

If your personal motto is “treat yourself,” then you’re in the right place! We have reserved a spot on the expansive grounds to enjoy a decadent couple of hours. Enjoy a guided tasting of 6 premium wines in a private outdoor space, surrounded by the beautiful vineyard ambiance.

Sandhill Crane Fly-In Tour

This is a special California Department of Fish and Wildlife tour for you to be dazzled and amazed. Flocks of the wintering Sandhill Cranes put on a spectacular display as they fly in at sunset to their evening roosting site at the Woodbridge Ecological Reserve on west Woodbridge Road. Bring your binoculars and dress appropriately for this rain-or-shine evening in the viewing shelter. Refreshments provided. LIMIT 25 MAX

Unseen & Unheard: Touring Solutions to Homelessness

Date & Time: Nov. 7 | 10:30 AM–12 PM

To follow up on the Unseen & Unheard: Rethinking Solutions to Homelessness lecture, you’ll have the opportunity to see how St. Mary’s Community Services is providing essential services and hope to individuals facing poverty and homelessness. This includes the newly developed Zeiter Center, a 64-bed family shelter, and Pathways Neighborhood, which includes 202 modular bedrooms. Carpooling with friends is highly recommended as parking can be very challenging in this area.

Hidden Tea Room – Tea Service

Date & Time: Dec. 5 | 11 AM–12:30 PM
Location: 301 N. California St., Lodi

Join us in the late morning for a proper tea service. The British refer to this as the “elevenses.” You will receive two scones with accoutrements, an assortment of four tea sandwiches and loose leaf tea.

Bird Safari III – Mokelumne River Fish Hatchery

Date & Time: Dec. 12 | 10 AM–12 PM
Location: 25800 N. McIntire Rd., Clements
Instructor: David Yee, Avian Expert and Author

This gem of a park at the base of Camanche Reservoir holds some of the best riparian habitat on the Mokelumne River. Wintering sparrows and woodpeckers are common here, and we can expect the rarity such as phainopepla, Lewis’s woodpecker and varied thrush. But the highlight will be all of the spawning salmon at the fish hatchery, which usually attracts bald eagles.
