Dental Hygiene Class of 2019 Holds Pinning Ceremony

Members of the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry's Dental Hygiene Program Class of 2019 celebrated their academic and clinical accomplishments during a special pinning ceremony held on Sat., April 27, 2019. The event on the San Francisco campus included an awards program, remarks from students and school leaders and a reception for family members and friends.

Dr. Cindy Lyon, Associate Dean of Oral Health Education, welcomed the students, and pins were presented by incoming Program Director Lory Laughter and Clinic Coordinator Mustafa Radif, with names read by outgoing program director Deborah Horlak.

Members of the 2019 class who received pins were Shabnam Akbari, Stefani Frumusa, Megan Gelico, Maria Gonzalez-Ochoa, Ulka Kibarova, Ariel Lee, Natty Nonnapaporn, Dana Jones, Brianna Prince, Simon Ton, Caitlin Trusas, Sabrina Vazquez, Julie Velarde, Bianka Welcker and Emily Yang.

Brianna Prince, president of the Class of 2019, gave remarks on behalf of the class and the valedictory address was given by class valedictorian Ulka Kibarova.

Other activities included the "Senior Superlatives" honors, a student video presentation and additional awards presented by Periodontics Department Chair Dr. Bill Lundergan.

Dental Hygiene students also had the opportunity to participate in the Dugoni School's various commencement weekend activities being held June 14-16 at locations across San Francisco.
