What to expect

Before the event 

For the poster track, participants are required to submit a PDF of their poster by the stated deadline. On the day of the event, teams should arrive at least 10 minutes early to check in.

The PIES team will take care of all logistics, including printing posters and table assignment for display.

During the event 

The poster session will feature teams presenting their work while attendees browse the projects. Attendees vote for their favorites, and top entries receive awards.


Submit your poster

Poster size: 3ft x 4ft (landscape). 

Please upload your poster in PDF format. Use Calibri 32pt or a similar legible font consistently throughout. 

The PIES organizing team will print all posters and set them up at your booth in the Makerspace before the event begins. 

Your poster should be highly visual, with minimal text used only for emphasis. Use bullet points where appropriate to enhance clarity and readability. 

Key elements to include: 

  • Title: Name your concept, followed by a brief concept statement  
  • Team Members: List all first and last names  
  • Class Affiliation and University Affiliation  
  • Opportunity/Problem Statement: Clearly define the problem or opportunity and support it with research (market analysis, user insights, etc.). Present data visually whenever possible  
  • Concept Presentation: Communicate your idea using high-resolution images  
  • Supporting Arguments: May include business model, sustainability considerations, or other relevant factors  
  • Acknowledgments  
  • References: Include a list of sources
