The Fletcher Jones Foundation Makerspace is a hub of interdisciplinary design and innovation. From concept to the final product, the Makerspace is your one-stop shop for it all. 

In our Henry and Alice Hirata Welcome Lounge, you can find a space to study or to hold events with your club or organization. The Makerspace is never reserved, so even when classes use the space, it is open to support your work and projects.

Where ideas turn into impact

To get the process started, email us at makerspace.uop@gmail.com with the following information:

  • Requester Name
  • Project Name
  • Request Type (3D, Laser, etc)

If 3D printing, include the following information:

  • Preferred filament material and color (PLA, PETG, TPU)
  • Desired print completion date

Attach your file (.stl) and nclude any other additional specifications.

If laser cutting:

  • Attach your file(.svg, .png, .dxf)
  • Specify material (plywood or acrylic). If you have your own material, come into the Makerspace to place the order.

Equipment and Facilities

The Makerspace supports multiple types of additive manufacturing and design including 3D printing, 3D scanning, resin printing and computer aided design (CAD).

From wood to acrylic and everything in between we offer laser cutting and engraving services. We use a Boss Laser LS 2440 CO2 Laser Cutter and Engraver with a 24” x 40” workspace. For specific engraving requests, stop by the Makerspace or schedule a consultation via email.

Desired File Types: .svg, .dwg, .png

Recommended software if you need somewhere to organize and export 2d files and graphics: Inkscape (free, great if you want to customize a picture engraving too) or photopea.com (like Illustrator, online and free).

For transferable labels and signs. Bring your own vinyl material or pick from our color selection.

Desired File Types: .png, .ai, or other vector graphic formats

We offer embroidery and sewing services for whatever your next craft project may be. For embroidery bring down your own prepared file, or for an additional cost we will prep your design (given in an image filetype). Stop by the Makerspace for a consultation on how we can best support your project. We also have a Cricuit, laminator and other craft tools and materials available for checkout.

Manufacture your project in our Machine Shop. With a wide array of industry grade machines and tools the possibilities are endless. The Janet Y. Spears Electronics Zone is home to all things electronics. From circuitry equipment, to specialized software and tools, there is a wide range of resources available to help you with your next project. For specific requests, consultations or more information contact: mforeman@pacific.edu.

The TIES Lab Space is a dedicated area for senior students in the School of Engineering and Computer Science to hold their projects and collaborate. It is open the same hours as the Makerspace, and those working on senior projects may request 24-hour access.

Service Pricing

Below are the prices for some of the services that we offer at the Makerspace. Please note that there is a 24 hour time maximum and 1 kg limit that can be provided per request for 3D Printing. For inquiries about pricing for your print or a service not listed here, please schedule a consultation with a Makerspace Steward via email.

Please submit all requests at least 1 week prior to desired pickup to account for production time.

The Makerspace reserves the right to refuse printing requests at our discretion.
