Tri-Delta legacy lives on as Jie Du Inn nears completion
Once complete, the Jie Du Inn will include named spaces like the Tri-Delta Legacy Room, celebrating the Inn’s former occupants.
Opening fall 2026, the Jie Du Inn will bring high-end boutique lodging to Pacific’s Stockton Campus. Alumni will be invited to view the Inn—located in the former Delta Delta Delta sorority house—during Homecoming & Family Weekend October 9-11.
Finished spaces will include the Tri-Delta Legacy Room, celebrating the Inn’s former occupants. Tri-Delta alumnae have nearly completed a $50,000 fundraising campaign to name the room, which will honor the Phi Rho chapter’s rich history and traditions.
Co-chaired by Bonnie Morehead ’76, ’79 and Elaine (Perez) Taylor ’88, the campaign has raised $46,000 toward its goal.
“This is our chance to have a piece of Tri-Delta on campus forever,” Morehead said. “The Inn still connects Tri-Delta to Pacific. It will carry forward our welcoming spirit, and our memories of a wonderful sisterhood will always be there—no matter what.”
Tri-Delta enjoyed a presence at Pacific from 1959, when the pre-existing Tau Kappa Kappa sorority affiliated with Tri-Delta, until 2019, when the chapter closed due to declining membership. For 60 years members enacted the values of truth, self-sacrifice and friendship; embraced a commitment to philanthropy; and were empowered to “lead bravely, act boldly and use our voices to change the world for the better.”
Tri-Deltas at Pacific were outstanding scholars, often recognized for top academic performance among the university’s Greek organizations. They also were highly active and engaged in campus life, and included many student-athletes.
The Tri-Delta Legacy Room will feature photos and memorabilia showcasing the Phi Rho chapter’s vibrant history.
“I hope the room conveys the love and sisterhood we had in Tri-Delta,” Morehead said. “We had a wonderful time together, and when you had a tough day, you always had sisters you could relate to, talk to and share experiences with.
“Now, we’ll have a place to come back and personally connect with Tri-Delta and those memories,” she continued. “This is truly something special, it’s ours, and we’re so close to making it happen.”
The Jie Du Inn will feature 20 private rooms and suites, along with a Grand Parlor, library, dining room, commercial kitchen, and front patio terrace overlooking the campus. While open to all, it will serve the primary purpose of hosting prospective Pacific students and their families. It also will provide experiential learning opportunities for students in the university’s new hotel and hospitality management major through the Eberhardt School of Business.
The Inn will open at the start of the Fall 2026 semester. A limited number of naming opportunities are still available.
“The Jie Du Inn honors stories of Pacific’s past while encouraging current and future students to write their own stories and inviting the wider community to engage with those stories,” said Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations Scott Biedermann ’05, ’20.
“I encourage alumni to take advantage of the opportunity to name a space in the Inn,” he continued. “Whether honoring the legacy of Tri-Delta, celebrating your personal experience or recognizing someone important to you, your gift is an important investment in Pacific’s future, the student experience, and our whole community.”
