Giving to the Library

When it opened in 1955, the Stockton Campus Library was intended as a centralized book repository where research and study could occur in defined spaces.

But today, thanks to technology, inquiry occurs throughout the entire building. Students gather to work collaboratively rather than in solitude among the stacks.

They need flexible spaces that support digitally driven, immersive learning. We envision revitalizing this long-time campus centerpiece with a completely renovated interior environment that will support students' academic work and foster the development of skills they'll put to great use after graduation.

We invite you to join us in creating a redesigned and reimagined Stockton Campus Library. With your help, we plan to accomplish the following:
  • The north entrance will be revitalized to create an open and transparent face.
  • Space on the first and second floors will be opened to allow natural light to illuminate lower floors.
  • New first floor spaces will include an expanded café, digital wall, open study areas, permanent space for the Cube, Media X digital gallery and editing rooms and the immersive John Muir Experience.
  • New second floor spaces will include upgraded classrooms, a reading room, quiet collaboration spaces, a permanent home for the Student Academic Success HIVE and an expanded and enhanced Center for Teaching and Learning.
  • The third floor will include undergraduate education services and tutoring lab space.
  • The book collection and Holt-Atherton Special Collections will remain consolidated on the Garden Level.

We hope that you will work with us to transform our library into a state-of-the-art environment where Pacific students will thrive and new thinking will emerge.
